My husband and I are in the process of buying our first home. When we began "house hunting" just less than 3 months ago I would have never imagined the amount of stress I would undergo during this process. I'm a very detail-oriented, planner, list maker, and "beat the deadline" kind of person. So when we began our search I never thought of all the time and energy that goes into buying a home. From day 1 there were so many questions I would have never thought of that have eventually come to surface over the last several weeks. Each phase can take a day, or a few. There's so much waiting and wondering and even times of nervousness. We're just shy of 3 weeks until our closing date and I've found myself browsing the net trying to find sites or blogs that offer advice to first time home buyers. I'm looking for anything and everything, whether it's questions to ask of your lendor/realtor/sellers or a list of "everything" you'll need, to timelines to dealing with the anxiety of it all. Many of the sites I've come across are basic and are posted by various banks or people that work in the mortgage loan arena. No site has provided all the answers, but I'm learning all sorts of information flipping through different links. I'm curious to know if there's any sites anyone really stands firmly behind and recommends?
Below are a few sites that helped provide information and even eased my stresses (a little)!

Ashely,
ReplyDeleteI am by no means an experienced home buyer, but my wife and I bought our first home a few months ago, with no agent! So, it was crazy. I always found a lot of info online, but you are right, no centralized information. I think the best thing to consider is that no house is 100% perfect, and that there are going to be things to fix forever! It is important to get a lender you are comfortable with, and don't be afraid to shop around for the best rate. I didn't keep any of the good sites I used during our buy, but I did save these two links, they are kind of cool. Good luck!
